Why VIRGOS make good writers!

Yes this is me.  I had a birthday last week which makes me well… a VIRGO…

To take my mind off my actual AGE it got me thinking about my other favourite subject astrology and my love of writing.  Could it be in the stars? Let’s just say it comforts me to think that perhaps it could be because of the traits of the typical Virgo.

Before I go any further, just to show that I am not making any of this up, here are a few famous Virgo writers:

Famous Virgo Writers

Stephen King – needs no explanation at all.  The master of the horror/supernatural genre. A prolific writer who was a published short story writer even before he became a household name. My favourite Stephen King novel is the lessor known Rose Madder (1995). Check out my blog post What’s the Story?  for more on Rose Madder and plot!

George R R Martin – the writer behind the TV series A Game of Thrones. Colossal.  The book is no small feat. It’s sitting on my bookshelf waiting to be read.

Neil Cross – is a British writer and creator of the hit TV series LUTHER, you know the one with Idris Elba! Check out the series, it’s fantastic. Neil Cross has written several other books as well. So take your pick!

Agatha Christie – again needs no explanation except to say she was born in 1890 and has written over 80 thrillers/mysteries. Not forgetting she is also the author of the play: The Mousetrap, which as you may know has been a very long running London theatre production. She wrote this ‘whodunit’ under the name of Mary Westmacott.

D H Lawrence – may need some explanation.  This British writer was born in 1885 and was quite prolific.  It’s difficult to categorise him today in terms of genre. However, his work would now be regarded as ‘classic’ works of fiction. His books tend to have strong emotional and sexual themes, written in a stylish prose that is never dull. My favourite D H Lawrence novel has got to be Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

So I think I have established that VIRGO writers are out there and have made a big splash in the literary world. However, being a VIRGO I obviously have the inside scoop on why we tend to make such good writers…

  • A strong critical eye
  • a sharp attention to detail
  • an enhanced ability to multitask and organise stuff
  • perfectionist by nature

At a glance all of these typical innate attributes of a VIRGO lend themselves wonderfully to the art and craft of creative writing.

If you are not a VIRGO here’s what you need to do to be as good as say Stephen King or George R R Martin! Adopt and apply the above attributes to your creative writing! Easy peasy!

Rebuttals left in the comments box will not be given any attention!! (SMILE)

Have fun and Happy Writing whatever your star sign!

Thanks for indulging me!

See you next time!

  1. Love this article! I am a Virgo and aspiring writer set to release my first novel sometime early next year, hopefully. Its taken me a long time to complete my first book because my inner critic continues to plague me and it can be hard to shut off at times. However, I’ve finally pushed through to completion and I’m excited to release my work to the world. I love writing and the ability to express myself with words.

Sun, moon, Venus, and mercury are all in Virgo in my natal chart. Rising sign is in Scorpio.

    1. Yes, Virgos love writing and seem to be good at it! Congratulations on the completion and publication of your novel, I hope it all goes well. I know what you mean by that inner critic, it can get in the way! Thanks for your comment!
