For a minute there this weekend I actually thought we were going to have a summer in London! After all it is June! Sad to say I was wrong. By Tuesday I’m back to being wrapped up like a mummy including a hat for good measure! It’s a pity because I actually had plans for doing some gardening. Does anyone else’s garden look like a miniature rain forest or is it just mine? I know it’s on the way to something much worse if I don’t get out there soon! It’s funny because in my mind it looks like Kew Gardens, well, I am an aspiring writing with a vivid imagination! I imagine myself sitting in my perfect garden one day sipping a lovely cup of green tea and penning a bestseller!
While I am on the subject of penning bestsellers, I recently submitted a novel called ‘Another Bite of the Cherry’ about a London man who is about to turn 60, to the London Literary Agency Darley Anderson. Of course they turned me down flat. Damn! There goes all my grand plans. I wanted to be able to say ‘J K Rowling eat your heart out’ but sadly it was not meant to be, just yet. Maybe next submission. What do you think?
Well, as they say ‘when life throws you lemons, make lemonade.’ So in the light of that, as it is raining (yet again), I think I will spend this afternoon working on my various writing projects – and so should you! And for your information the character Inspector Morse created by Colin Dexter was reputedly written on a rainy afternoon while Colin Dexter was on holiday with his family. That’s the beauty of creative writing, you can do it almost anywhere, even when it’s raining!
Here’s hoping for the return of spring-like weather.
Until next time, happy writing, S
